Raelinn & Gus started the topic Advice needed: 42hr car ride w/ bunny in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 months, 1 week ago
Hello!
I am moving cross country in about a month, taking my two cats and one rabbit with me.
(Sidenote: in case anyone recalls, I had two bunnies, but my ex and I split and he decided to take Maxwell so it is just Gus now).
I’m looking for any advice at all on how to go about this car ride in the safest way possible. Here is my plan:
- Put…

Yeah, my one bun, Arthas, acts like he is straight up being murdered when its bunny spa day lol. Little drama queen!
I’m not sure if it’s like this with all buns, but I noticed that when the nail had healed, it never really grew back like the others. It just remained a short, uh, stub (for lack of a better word). At least in my experience with…[Read more]

Thanks both of you! It looks like it was just her nail. She is very much a diva about her nails, so I admit I tend to put it off longer than I should. Her very fluffy feet hide it, too. Still was scary walking I. And seeing her little nose all covered in blood.
Luckily, she has forgiven me and has been booping about without any issues. Keeping…[Read more]

Ah, this makes more sense now. If the nail is much shorter than you would ever try to trim, then I’m going to guess it was already broken and bleeding. Especially if it wasn’t bleeding a lot at that point because a freshly broken nail is going to bleed A LOT. I can totally see her trying to nurse her wound and getting some blood on her nose.

Sorry to hear about Miu! It sounds like it could be possible the blood on her nose could have come from her nail if it was broken and/or bleeding. She could have been licking her paw and gotten a bit on her nose.
Longer bunny toes seem more prone to breaking, especially in free roam buns because they can be more adventurous and more places to…[Read more]

Oh and the dried blood is on bridge of nose. Doesn’t look like it came from inside nose.

Tried to upload a photo of her nose, but it’s not showing up in my media and wouldn’t let me do it directly. Her and Dorian seem fine with each other at least. Trimmed both their nails. Miu is traumatized by that now. Going to try and give her space and just monitor.

They are freeroam. There’s a willow basket she could have scraped on, but not really anything else.
I went to go check that the wound wasn’t somewhere else and noticed that her nails were way to long. Got worried she could break one & started trimming and one looks very short and bleeding. I may have done it accidentally as she wasn’t…[Read more]

What is their enclosure made out of? Could she have cut her nose on wire or grid? Did you examine it closely? It does look like a scratch and not possibly coming from inside her nose?

I haven’t been active in a while either as things just dropped off as it wasn’t as active, and guilty of being back because had a question. It really is an invaluable resource.
I miss the photo threads!

I just came back from store and bit ago Miu has blood on her nose. It’s not a lot, she has a white patch on her nose and it looks like maybe a small scratch and bit of dry blood. I don’t know if her and Dorian had a scuffle, but that seems odd. They have been snuggling all day and usually she’s the more testy one in relationship.
I have been…[Read more]

It looks normal, but in the future if you are ever super worried you can put a puppy pee pad at the bottom of the litter box and then later see if there are abnormal deposits. Also a video on Youtube by Howcast that discusses normal vs. abnormal rabbit pee and poop!

I second what LBJ said!
My buns all have dark colored litter boxes and their pee also leaves this residue in-between box cleanings. 🙂 It definitely shows up more on dark surfaces.

This looks like normal calcium deposits that remain after pee has dried. It becomes more apparent when they pee over and over in the same spot. It probably just looks more noticeable here because it’s on black plastic.

Hi!
Since i’ve changed my rabbit’s bathroom for a darker one, i’m noticing more pee colors and textures than before.
My rabbit is a 3 y.o lop with megacolon, so her diet is basically a lot of timothy and coast cross hay and 1 and a half tablespoon of pellets (Nutropica – Super Premium Coelhos – it’s a top-line brazilian’s rabbit pellets)…[Read more]
