So my doe Bailey just got spayed about a week ago and she has done really well with recovery, better than I thought she would do. She seems really upset that she has been separated from her brother and that she doesn’t have much room to play. I only did this so she would have a easy access to all she needed. When should I give her full space and rebond her with her brother?

Good to hear she is recovering well . I’m not sure about when she can rebond, but you can start giving her more space if she is healing well. She still shouldn’t be allowed to jump though. Maybe you could supervise her play time in a small room before you give her back her full space?

It takes two weeks for the spay incisions to heal fully, so it should be two weeks before she’s allowed to climb and jump. But supervised playtime for a couple of hours every day is good, or she’ll get very restless.

Most sources suggest waiting a month before rebonding. This is so the body gets a chance to get used to the new hormonal situation caused by the spay. Many buns get mood swings for a period after desexing.
