I just added a ramp in my bun’s condo between the 2nd and 3rd level due to her recent fall from the 3rd level to the floor (she was ok, thank goodness). The ramp takes up the open space that she fell through. I covered the ramp and levels with a utility carpet thinking this would provide enough traction for her to use the ramp. Unfortunately it hasn’t and the ramp turned more into a slide, which she did not like, although it was pretty hilarious to watch  Any suggestions on how to make the carpeting on the ramp have more traction?

It’s possible the ramp is too steep as well.

Yeah I considered that, though it’s not very steep at all. I just had to put something there since she’s already almost fallen off the 3rd level yet again. I guess even if she never actually uses the ramp, at least it’s there to stop her from falling backwards off the ledge all the way to the ground floor.

What is the ramp made out of? Just wood covered in utility carpet?

It’s NIC grids with the utility carpet over it. Today I used carpet tape to add carpet “steps” over the first layer of carpet. It seems to have helped. She used climbs down it, just not up

I would give her some time. I’m sure she’ll get used to it.

I wonder if this type of flooring would help. I got it at home-depot.  It was also a utility type/outdoor carpet type that came in rolls at the store, but customers  could cut it length wise to fit their needs)

You could cut holes in the sides and secure it to the NIC cubes with zipties.

It has little grooves built in and that seem to really help with traction.
