This is Fantastic! I picked it up a few weeks ago. It’s great because it has three levels of difficulty so it’s adjustable.

Haven’t taken a video yet, but Rupert and Kahlua are on level two already. It’s funny -Kahlua may be smarter then previously thought. She lets Rupert move something to access a treat, and then grabs it before he can!  It’s great because it engages them cognitively-they really seem to enjoy it and it’s fun to watch them figure it out

Here’s a video of a rattie using it on level II of difficulty!

I think we might’ve had a thread on this before Christmas, but I’m not sure.

I got it for the buns for Christmas and they love it! They made it through the three levels immediately though – it wasn’t too challenging for them because they just put their paws on it and pushed everything out of the way. Haha. I’m working with Otto now to have a little more finesse and actually look for the food instead of going Godzilla on the whole thing.

The first time we used the little blue plastic covers Hannah grabbed one in her mouth and ran around like a little labrador for a couple of minutes. Funniest thing I’ve ever seen her do! She was so proud of herself.

I want to get this for Lolli so badly! I think she needs some mental stimulation. She probably disagrees with me, imagine that! lol But with my life right now, I can’t justify spending the money on it yet. But hopefully soon I can get it for her!

I have been wanting to get that for Riley, but like Michelle, I can’t justify the cost right now!

Now, I will highly recommend these two products for those of you who like to do foraging:

              http://www.dog.com/item/iq-treat-ball-dog-toy/492750/

              http://www.petmountain.com/show_product/11442-516787/?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=datafeed&utm_term=11442-516842

Now, the first one is more difficult as the treat has to make it through two holes, while the second only requires one hole. I got the SlimCat one first, then picked up the IQ ball after a few months to provide more of a challenge. I love them both! And so does Riley. I use treats as well as just pellets in there, and he loves it.

Next step will be the Teach n Treat!

Thanks for the recommendation, I had been wondering whether or not it would be a good choice for buns!

I have some little cat treat dispensing balls too, though I don’t have either of the exact ones you posted. My buns love those too! Though they’re kind of annoying to play with because Otto immediately pushes it under the coffee table or tv and I have to get it out 😛

Elrohwen – do you think that the teach-n-treat is more of a challenge or less?

Just trying to figure out whether it’s worth the investment in the future or not.

I also picked up an agg-shaped treat dispenser at Target the other day, in the cat toy section. It is small, so perfect for my 3# baby! And it doesn’t roll around like the balls do, he picks it up and throws it though! I had to find some smaller treats though to put in it!

I think the Teach & Treat is definitely more interesting and more stimulating. Otto never figured out that the ball gives out food – he just pushes it around because it smells like food, but he misses the food when it falls out half of the time. With the T&T, he’s actually starting to understand what he needs to do to get the food. He was able to get at the food quickly, since it’s not hard to just use his paws to dig around and move the pieces, but now he’s figuring out how to do it with finesse.

That looks like a really awesome toy! I’d love to get one for my bun and rats. The video is adorable. You have a beautiful rat

I have bought the doggie treat balls before and no one (not the dog, not the bunnies) figured it out…they are not that food motivated though-my fault.

I definitely recommend the teach and treat. It’s fun too because they hear me preparing it (I don’t let them keep it because it has rubber feet and I just know they’ll eat those!) and get so excited. It’s sweet. Also Rupert can’t do that much physically so it impedes a lot of training I could do with him-so it’s something that’s more mental then physical that he can figure out

I think it would be something you could approximate to make too though-if you are handy or have a family member who is-you could make something like that out of pine that’s safe too

Could you take some pix of the Teach & Treat out of the box, in action?
I can’t quite make out exactly what it is. kthnxbi.

Hi there! Long time no post. Been a bit busy, moving 150 miles and things like that!

Anyhoo, I’m totally going to order one of these today so when I get it I’ll take a video and some pics of it. It’s so hard to find really good rabbit toys in England!

BTW, we bought a maze haven and I can safely say it’s the best thing we’ve done for our bunnies. They sleep in there and the rest of the time they’re completely free range now.

I got Sunny a teach n treat and have videos of him on all levels. I haven’t gotten around to uploading them, but I will try to soon! I have to put fruit in it for him to use it.

Level 1 was harder for him than 2 & 3. He advanced quickly. I don’t think it’s really “hard” at all. After he did level 3 I had him do level 1 again and he was able to do it easier.
