Exactly what it sounds like… slowly introducing greenery to the new guy. Parsley was a hit. After 3 days of that and no digestive problems I added cilantro today, he loved that also. But I fed them wet, as I’d read to do to up water consumption, and since they just came from grocery and needed rinsed anyways. I’m not sure if that was the cause (the parsley was damp when fed before too and this didn’t happen) or if it is… juicy cilantro? But the rabbits paws and half of his face are lime green.

Yeah, I wish I was joking. He did groom himself and that took some of it off, but theres definite green stains left in the whisker and chin area, and even all the way to the corner of one eye! Has anyone seen this happen before? Is he just a pig when he eats? Should I handfeed or chop it up smaller? Not serve wet? Not give him cilantro again? Or…. just deal with a permanently green faced bun? Or maybe it will fade more with successive grooms?

(pardon the trashy box in the background… that’s my Great Wall of China protecting the under bed space here. XD)

hehehe. It will fade, don’t worry! He just seems to like getting messy when he eats

Haha, okay guys. And no, I watched him eat it, he did drag some of them away from the pile before sucking it down like a full length spaghetti noodle (reminds me of Lady and the Tramp every time), but no laying it it. It’s definitely just… very… enthusiastic snarfing.

Well, I’m glad it should fade somewhat. Not that I care about the paws, they’re stained grey right now anyways. I just remember reading something which said some stains can stay until they grow out, which maybe will be 6 months. And I was like “!!!” at a permanently green-nosed rabbit.

Also sorry for all the threads and questions, but thanks!

                  Oh that is so cute!

Lol! Well, rabbits are cleaners, so I’m sure they will clean it off.

My rabbit LOVES cilantro and she doesn’t go crazy like that, but will inhale 3 to 4 pieces at once…LoL

It will come off all too soon, so be sure to wash the greens again next time. I want more pix.

Dodger frequently gets a green face, but it’s only right under his nose. Unfortunately/hilariously, his fur there splits towards the outside of his head there, so the green looks just like a Hitler mustache. The first time I saw this was when feeding wet greens during a bonding session, and I looked at him, burst out laughing(she was eating too but wasn’t green at all!) and asked him how she was ever supposed to take him seriously when he looks like Hitler.

                          It’ll fade though.. don’t worry.

That is such a cute photo! Lola gets an orange bib from her carrots, but I’ve never seen a greenie!

LOL. Too cute. It’s like those classic baby pics when they feed themselves for the first time.
I guess maybe shake of the excess water might help… At least he enjoyed it.

Oh, just a heads-up. Some herbs will make their pee stink and sometimes makes the pee red.  lol. Hopefully that won’t stain him else he’ll end up looking like the Italian flag.

What a sweet pic! I’m glad he’s liking his greens… This is the equivalent to the “baby in high chair with spaghetti on his face” picture…

He should be able to groom most of it off, but you are right that it could take a few months for it to completely shed out. Same thing happen with urine stains on the feet, it takes a few months for the color to return to normal.

Out of all 3 of mine, Gracie is the messiest. She dives into her food and acts like she’s starving all the time. If the greens are wetter than usual…yup I got myself a green bunny! Sometimes it looks quiet nasty like she puked up her lettuce because there’s green juice all over her face lol! She manages to lick herself clean.
