My bun, Sesame, has been peeing outside of her litter box and I’m really not sure why. I’ve noticed that it’s either just outside of the litter box if there’s a hay mat on the floor or wherever there is a pile or box of hay I set out for her and her brother (Pekoe: male, bonded) to munch on. My current theory is that she thinks she’s in the litter box because maybe hay pile + poor upclose vision + right next to litter box so litter box scents = “I’m in litter box”? I’d love other opinions though and ways I can help reduce this behavior.

For a bit of background, Sesame has been bonded to her brother, Pekoe, for about 4-5 months. When she lived in her own enclosure, we didn’t have any of pee accidents. There’s been no signs of pain or discomfort.
