        Hi!

Since i’ve changed my rabbit’s bathroom for a darker one, i’m noticing more pee colors and textures than before.

My rabbit is a 3 y.o lop with megacolon, so her diet is basically a lot of timothy and coast cross hay and 1 and a half tablespoon of pellets (Nutropica – Super Premium Coelhos – it’s a top-line brazilian’s rabbit pellets) per day.

But i’ve noticed this kind of sediment and i don’t know if it’s normal. It wasn’t completely dried and looked like a paste, but when touched, it felt like chalk. I placed some white paper sheets under her bathroom to see anything, but only caught this kind of “pee texture” under the sheets.

Perhaps, she’s on her normal weight, eating, drinking, acting and playing around normally. I’m concerned about a urine tract or bladder sludge issue.

        Thank you!

This looks like normal calcium deposits that remain after pee has dried. It becomes more apparent when they pee over and over in the same spot. It probably just looks more noticeable here because it’s on black plastic.

                I second what LBJ said!

My buns all have dark colored litter boxes and their pee also leaves this residue in-between box cleanings. 🙂 It definitely shows up more on dark surfaces.

It looks normal, but in the future if you are ever super worried you can put a puppy pee pad at the bottom of the litter box and then later see if there are abnormal deposits. Also a video on Youtube by Howcast that discusses normal vs. abnormal rabbit pee and poop!
