        Hi everyone!

I have a 2 years old lop girl named Misso, and about a day ago, i noticed little whistle noises on her breathing, very discreetly, but i got concerned.

I haven’t noticed any white or yellow thick discharge coming out of her nostrils, but they’re a bit damp. I took some pictures (which she wasn’t happy about) and i think that maybe the wetness around her nose might be due the tropical weather (i live in Brazil).

When i should get concerned about her breathing? I’m avoiding to picking her up and putting her on stressful situations (like cutting nails, petting outside her space etc) because i can hear the whistle sounds increasing when she’s excited or angry.

Poop, appetite, binkyness and behavior are okay, just concerned about the dampness and the low whistle sounds.

        Thank you so much!

Dampness around the nostrils is not considered a sign of anything bad. Since rabbits only breathe through their noses, the moisture in the air and the rabbit’s activity level can make the nostril area damp.

The weezing sound is not normal though, it could indicate some sort of irritation in the airways in the nose, like from breathing in hay dust or an allergy. Does she sneeze? Since you dont mention sneezing I guess she doesnt sneeze much.

Hi Bam! Thank you for answering.

She’s not sneezing or snoring and i tend to shake the hay before displaying it for her because of dust, she had some hay allergy when she was a baby so i avoid feeding her dusty hay!

I’ve had buns that did this their whole lives. Some all the time regardless and others just when breathing harder. Though it’s not normal, it could be something “normal” for that bun. Would get it checked out first before determining that though.

I agree that it is worth having it checked. It could be irritation/swelling, an obstruction, or simply the shape of her sinuses. You want to make sure though before just saying it is normal for her.
