I’m 99% certain my rabbit has fur mites and maybe ear mites. She’s just itching too much and has dandruff on the neck area. I want to use selamectin but my country only has ivermectin the injectable kind. The vets are not rabbit savvy so they are just telling me to treat with ivermectin. My rabbit also has the Vienna gene so it could end up being disastrous as I’m aware that ivermectin causes side affects in some rabbits.

where can I get Stronghold/Revolution from online? Every website wants a prescription and they won’t accept my local vet’s prescription. I have family in the UK and US and I could easily order it to them and they could get it sent to me but the issue is regarding prescription. Can anyone here please help? Does anyone have a prescription I could use?

Would it work to order from a Canadian site? What about just telling the vet you want to use selamectin instead of ivermectin and asking them to write you a prescription? They may not be rabbit savvy, but a quick Google search would show them that Revolution is safe for rabbits.

I agree, you will need your vet to write a prescription.

So like I said selamectin/revolution/stronghold is simply not available in my country and a vet prescription is not accepted by the websites. They only accept their own vets prescriptions not some foreign vets. I think I can get it from Australia without a prescription actually so I’m trying to get a friend to get it. I just need to know the correct dosage. It’s the pink box the one for kittens right? But would I apply one full vial on my bunny? She’s like 1.8lbs or about 810 grams.

Yes, Revolution is OTC in Australia. It’s the only country I know of where Revolution is OTC.

For rabbits under 2.3 kilos you should use a vial of kitten Revolution. (Kitten Revolution is the “pink” box). Repeat treatment is as a rule needed after 1-2 weeks, to get the parasites that were in life stages insensitive to Revolution when the Revolution was first applied. My great rabbit savvy vet recommends 1 vial per week for 3 weeks, rabbits break down Revolution a lot quicker than most other species pets.

Selamectin is an ivermectin derivative but I can’t find any info on whether its safe for Vienna carriers or not. Since the Vienna gene is very common in “pet quality” rabbits, I assume there would be at least anecdotal online reports of bad adverse reactions to Selamectin.

I believe it is OTC in Canada as well, but don’t quote me on that. I used Revolution on my Vienna marked bunny and never had any concerns. I would think we would have heard at least anecdotal reports online, as Bam said.

What happened to that dosage chart?
