I saw the thread by Benjamín. Fluffernutter was not doing well, he never has G.I stasis. I gave him some gi stasis meds, did not show signs of improvement in about an 1 /12 called the vet to see if they had any appointments. They did an x-ray and blood work; x-ray showed what looked to be a torsion and liver values were very very high.

I received a call tonight he did have  torsion and he did pretty well of course the first two days are critical.

The doctor told me that apparently Live Torsion is more common this time of year for some reason.

Fingers very much crossed that Fluffernutter gets through this!

Interesting that there seems to be a seasonal variation!

I too think LLT probably has been (and still is) under-diagnosed and written off as “GI stasis”

Diagnostic methods for rabbits have become a lot better in later years. When I first had rabbits most vets couldnt do a full blood panel in the clinic. Blood tests are very valuable when it comes to rabbits! Imaging techniques for rabbits are also better now. Sadly many vets still arent very used to interpreting the findings though, there seems to be an exotics vet shortage pretty much everywhere.

          Thank you for posting this!

Ben and I are wishing your bunny a swift and easy recovery <3

I just updated my thread and I wanted to give you a heads up – if your bunny has had E. Cuniculi in the past you’ll want to watch for signs of it coming back if your bun gets surgery for the liver torsion. Since Ben was immunocompromised during the surgery his EC has flaired up again and has been the cause of extreme weight loss after the surgery. If your bun is losing weight afterwards as well it might be EC.

Keep us updated, okay? Sending lots of love to you both <3

Thank you, no EC episodes yet. He started eating last night and he is now with his sister. I will hopefully pick them up tomorrow. We are wishing you and Ben  a quick recovery. I know how stressful for both and you and Ben this must be.

Another quick update, yesterday he looked very tired. Today much brighter and happier. Even munched on some hay.

                Thank you, for the encouragement.

Yay! We hope he keeps gaining energy and getting better 🙂 Ben had a period of time during his recovery where he would lay down and breathe fast after hopping 4-5ft. It didn’t last too long though! I hope your sweet boy keeps eating and healing well 🙂

I cannot post in the Rainbow Bridge area but Fluffernutter passed from trachea stenosis. Probably caused by the surgery

                          ergodic, I’m so very sorry.

I had to look up this complication, I wasnt aware of the risk tbh.

I dont know enough about Fluffernutter to say any words about him. He had a great human. He must have had a great life.

                          Binky free, Fluffernutter 💔
