I have a two year old english lop who has been difficult to bond in the past. He is fixed and I tried to match him with another fixed male in the past and it ended terribly. After moths of trying they continuously fought and I ended the attempt after a bunny tornado. I spend most of my days with Winston and he is with my dog and family often as well, he is a single nun but seems pretty happy. I got him from a shelter so I don’t know what the first three months of his life looked like but I just know he’s been alone with me outside of our past attempt. I know have an opportunity to adopt a month old baby nun who isn’t yet fixed but she will be if I do adopt her. I don’t know if I should try to bond the two or just help to find her a home that isn’t mine. I don’t have much resources to allow me to have a backup if the bonding doesn’t work out. I don’t know if trying to match him with an unfixed baby is a bad idea because of his past or will it be better this time because it’s a female. Should I try again or just continue to keep the single bun?

It’s very possible that it could go more smoothly because she is female, but it’s hard to say. It will take a long time before you know for sure, because you will need to wait until she can be spayed and then hormones need to settle.

If it were me, I might try to find another home for the baby, but then look into whether you could speed date your bun with some already spayed females at the shelter to see if you can find a good match. That way you’d have a better chance of success.
