        Hi everyone –

I tried to create a post earlier but I had a “fatal error” warning on the page and it did not load.

Anyway, the gist of that post was that my 8 year old Mini Rex (he will be 9 in November) has dental problems, I think. He is going to the bathroom fine, fairly active, alert, and eating hay. He has gone off his Oxbow pellets and all of this Oxbow treats. That is how I know something was up with him. He ate sofa banana without a problem and a tiny piece of orange (smaller than a finger nail).

He has no drooling or eye discharge. His teeth sometimes make “squeaking” noises when he eats hay and he would softly grind them in his sleep, like a “chomp chomp chomp.”

He is going to the vet on Wednesday. A rabbit savvy vet. I have had rabbits for 20 + years but it is shocking that I have dealt with other issues, just not teeth in a senior. Anyway, I am bawling my eyes out.

I know that the vet will have to sedate him and I am sick with worry for that appointment when the day comes. He was sedated for his neuter but he was 6 months old then. Now, as a senior, I have a whole set of worries mainly that when I drop him off a the vet that is the last time that I will see him. He is basically all I have in life right now.

Can people share their senior rabbit and sedation stories? Good and the bad?

I need to keep my emotions in check that I need to take care of him NOW and not let a potential problem get worse. He could pass while I do the right thing or suffer for no good reason. Apologies for my tone, I am really worried and stressed. Thank you.

So, I tell myself, I need to keep my emotions in check. He needs help and it would be selfish and inhumane not to get him help because I have fear of my own heart.

Hello – thank you! I was unsure that either post went through! Now I know that they did. My apologies for the double.

              Absolutely no problem! 🙂

I’m locking this thread now, to keep the discussion in the first thread.
