        Hi!

One or both pf my bunnies have consumed small pieces of silicone. I called the vet about this who recommended to keep them separated but close so they can still interract to observe any changes in each of their droppings and keep only a hay and twig diet so that anything deviant may pass easier but I’m a bit concerned about this since I feel like it’d harder to tell if their personality changes if I can’t keep them freeroaming and if I can’t treat test them. They’d also have to be let out seperately to exercise and this setup would be for a week. Idk what do you guys think of this advice?

Are the bunnies bonded? How big of a piece of silicone? Rabbits tend to chew things well… so usually things pass through. And a week seems very long, usually you would know within 12 -24 hours if there was a problem.

I see from your other thread that the rabbits are bonded. I wouldn’t recommend separating them personally, because you would be able to know if there is a blockage due to lack of appetite. And running around free-roam will help keep their gut moving. Separating a bonded pair is very stressful to the rabbits and is usually only done when one rabbit is extremely ill. Keep in mind I’m not a vet, and I don’t know how much silicone we’re talking about here.

Thank you so much! I agree with you, I’d know if one of them went into stasis since I’m around them all the time and I didn’t like the thought of them not being able to run around as much. Maybe I’ll just keep them in their separate pens for a day or two to observe their droppings as you said, I’m just worried they’re consuming even more plastic due to the coating of the pen walls they keep rattling since they’re obviously not happy in there. Anyway thank you for your oppinion! Sorry about the douplicates, wasn’t intentional
