Happy New Year, and very fittingly, year of the rabbit.

Been a lot going on here, or at least it feels like it. Retail work at Christmas is exhausting. Glad to be past the peak of it. Our car broke down (twice) the week of Christmas, and now we’re into 2023. Where does the time go?

Pet updates:

The cats are well, loving their cat run. Had a booster vax, Jasper was still unwell for 6 days after but much better than previously (not sure if I wrote about that).

Dory continues to be loud, she’s been screaming lately and I havent managed to figure out why, she’s not normally a regular screamer. So that’s fun.

As for the bunnies (buckle up), Luna is doing really well, Apollo is a concern again. He’s well but he had another neurological episode on Monday. I wouldn’t have known if he hadn’t peed on the rug, I found the patch Tuesday and since mine are dedicated litter box users for wee I went back through the camera footage to see what happened. It basically consists of him trying to hop around but stumbling and falling to the left a bit. At one point it looks like there’s horizontal nystagmus due to the way his head moves. It looks like he tried going to the litter tray, couldn’t get in there so hopped somwhere else, peed, laid down for ten minutes, then when he got up to move he was still affected. Not sure entirely how long it lasted but 10+ minutes is quite extended.

We went to the vet today, she didn’t think E.c was likely due to history of similar events last year and no residual symptoms (outside of the episode he’s completely normal). Given his age she suggested blood work which I need to book in for, and also recommended a CT scan. This was suggested to us last year in March if he had another but the estimated cost was $4000! Today I learned that a specialist imaging clinic opened up last year which means the cost has come down significantly, she’s going to get me an estimate but she seemed to think the price was in the single thousand dollar range, which is much more do-able. In the mean time, I just have to keep a close eye on Apollo. Trouble is unless he wees on the rug again, I’m not going to know if he’s had an episode unless I’m watching every minute of footage from the camera.
