I was just curious if anyone has used Oxbow and Standlee Brand Hay and Pellets? How do they compare? I’d love to know what brands of Pellets and Hay you recommend. I’m looking for more affordable yet good quality Hay and Pellets. I live in the USA in the Midwest Region.

Sorry, I have never used Standlee. There is a website that compared the nutritional contents of different brand; might be worth checking out.

I use Oxbow and Select Science pellets; I see these two used at rabbit rescues here.

I see and thanks I was just really curious about the Standlee Brand as it’s a bit more affordable then the Oxbow and the Science Selective brands I plan on using Oxbow Garden Select Young Rabbit pellets for my 3 rabbits I’ll gradually have to switch them over to it but I was curious more so on the Standlee Hay and there pellets I definitely would love other options as well The House Rabbit society in my state that I volunteer for also uses Oxbow and Science Selective pellets I’m just looking for other quality brands that are more affordable. Thanks do you have a link to the website that compares the different brands? I’d love to check it out.

I don’t see that brand on the list but according to the ranges on the site, the fat and protein are not in range for Adults for their Timothy Grass Pellets. Maybe there’s another brand that’s in “green” zone that may work for you?

I looked at their website. As far as the analysis goes, it looks like it would be OK. Timothy is the first ingredient, but wheat is the second. Oxbow Garden Select has “better” ingredients.

Ok thank you so much I really appreciate it I ordered them the Oxbow Garden Select Young Rabbit pellets I was thinking of trying the Standlee brand hay since it’s more affordable then oxbow if it’s any good I wasn’t sure how they’re pellets were quality wise though . I just want to give them the best within my budget as well .  I’m not sure if the areas Standlee Brand Hay is has a high RHDV outbreak risk or not I just know it’s in the State of Idaho grown on a farm I like the fact it’s a family owned company I love supporting small businesses and family owned businesses. I will look into some of the other Standlee Brand products . Thanks for looking into it more for me as well I really appreciate the help.

I know Oxbow stores the hay for the required amount of time, so their products should be free of RHDV. I don’t know about Standlee, I see no statement on their website. I assume they probably take precautions since they are marketing to rabbits. Perhaps you could contact them directly?

Thank you so much that’s really helpful I didn’t know oxbow stored the hay for the correct amount of time to make sure it’s safe from the RHDV2 virus I just learned about this rabbit virus this year so I just started getting a tad more worried even though so far my state is in the green zone but they’re are some surrounding states that do have the RHDV2 virus outbreak. Definitely plan on getting my bunnies vaccinated ASAP . I’m so glad I ended up getting Oxbow Garden Select pellets for my buns

I love the Standlee hay.  It’s grown here in Idaho so is typically super fresh.

                              Cost is awesome!!

We get the Timothy and Orchard grass for Piggies and buns, various types for the goats.

Be sure to smell it before you leave the store.  I did end up with one musty box.
