        Hello,

My bunny has been having a build up of eye crust. It is mostly on his right eye and a small amount of fur was pulled off by the bunny while cleaning his face after using a damp towel to loosen the crust. His left eye is pretty clear minus a micro amount of crust that comes every now and then. I am mostly focused on his right eye right now as another few clumps of crust/fur has occurred. Does anyone know what this is/have any recommendations for me? I appreciate any help. I am most likely going to be taking him to a vet in the next few days.

It is hard to say for sure. From the picture, it looks like the area underneath has been wet for some time. This will cause the fur to fall out, but since the top is crusty this “dead” fur is held in place. When you and your bunny tried to clean it, part of this clump came loose and revealed the bald skin below. As for the cause… there are a number of possibilities. It could be a foreign object, an infection or a blocked tear duct. Or it could be caused by something deeper like tooth root intrusion or dental disease.
