Hello, I recently got a bunny and even though I ordered more hay as soon as I got her, she already finished half a bag of hay the previous owner have given me. As amazon will complete the delivery Thursday, I will have to feed her pellets, cabbage, and treats for one whole day.

I know this is not the best situation to begin with, but will my bunny survive one day without hay? It will have more than enough fresh veggies and pellets.

Or should I uber down to a pet store and get hay?

        Thank you

Your bunny should be fine without hay for a day. This is not the best situation but she should be fine if it is only one day. Rabbit pellets have some hay in them so I definitely recommend feeding her some pellets. Do you have a pet store near you? You may not need to uber to a pet store if you are comfortable with deliveries. I know that doordash also works with petsmart if you have one near you. You could order some hay on doordash and have someone deliver it to you today.

Personally… I would go get some hay if at all possible. If not, give extra pellets and veggies. Not eating enough fiber can cause GI upset, with the worst case being stasis or a bad gas episode.

FYI, cabbage is not great for buns. It commonly causes gas in rabbits so it should usually be avoided. I def wouldn’t want to feed cabbage if they weren’t also getting hay.

If it were me, I wouldn’t feed cabbage either. If your bunny just has pellets to eat for a day, it won’t be the end of the world. Maybe see if you can find some romaine or leaf lettuce, if your bunny has had that before. Spread the pellets out thoughout the day and give a little extra. Keep an eye out for any signs of upset. Some bunnies are more sensitive than others.
