hello! my guinea pig of 7 years sadly waddled across the rainbow bridge about a month ago. i ordered gorgeous guineas shampoo and calendula lotion and it didn’t arrive until today. i’m sure it’s rabbit-safe, but just thought i’d double check on here before using anything. of course, i wouldn’t be bathing my bunnies regularly- just in case something were to happen, and they needed a bum/foot wash! are these products safe to use? i’ve heard of calendula lotion being used for hocks. the shampoo is lavender tea tree oil. it’s meant for guinea pigs, so i assume it would be safe? thank you!

Hi! I edited out the product link.

Calendula can be used on buns. Tee Tree Oil is however toxic to most animals. I would personally not use any product containing Tee Tree Oil on a rabbit, or a guinea pig tbh. Even small amounts can cause skin irritation and/or respiratory problems. When I’ve needed to actually use schampoo on a rabbit (butt baths), I’ve used mild organic dog schampoo, and just a tiny bit.

Agree… i usually don’t use any soap at all for bum baths. Just water and some water baby wipes if needed.
