Snoa has snuggling down to an art!

I can believe it’s June already.  It’s been raining non stop here, I’m ready for a few dry days.

Awww, she looks so comfortable! Very cute ^_^

They’re stubborn, they’re sassy, and they’re unbelievably messy… but I wouldn’t trade them for the world! ^_^ Look what they did to the carpet with their hay roll and their combined mega moult 😆

Bonding is still going with ups and downs, but they do love to hang out together. Picking them up to take them inside and outside is always stressy, but when we brought them indoors they immediately sought each other out and flopped against each other <3

Stop the presses! Now this is a scoop!

Molly has always been scared of petting and rarely allows it. Bas just sat close to her pen and Molly stood up on her hind legs, drew herself up against the bars and looked at him to attract his attention.

When he reached for her she walked a step to the side and sat down in a corner. He gently petted her, and she started to purr like a little engine. I could clearly hear her a little way off: they were the happy “click click click” noises, not the hard chattering ones that she gets when she’s very scared. After a while she sat up and groomed his hand 🥰

I’m so proud of our little girl! 🥲 She used to be scared of everything and regularly had panic attacks. She hasn’t had one for 2 months now, and she’s making so much progress! I can also calm her down quicker these days: just a soft “It’s okay, girl” is often enough.

I got BIG news! Blossom let me pick her up for a few seconds before getting squirmy when before she got automatically squirmy when being picked up! I’m just so happy and proud of her and yes she did get treats for that!

Yay, well done Blossom! 🥳 Rabbits are creatures of habit, so I hope that the reward will lead to a new better habit for her 🙂

Molly’s getting a little too confident here: she actually started to spray urine… 😑 I really hope that she stops when Owen gets better.

She’s usually such a cutie, but she’s really being a b**** sandwich at the moment. Yay for confidence, but there are limits…

Oh Molly, my girl, I can’t tell you how proud I am of you. I can only keep petting you, thank you for your trust 🥲 🥰

She was the most timid little thing when we got her: even taking a raisin from your hand was scary for her. Slowly we could get closer, and she’d lick our hands and faces but she was uncomfortable with being petted back.

Slowly we built that up, up to the point where we can pet her sometimes. When we lower our hand she either hops away from us, or she takes a couple of steps and sits down so she’s firmly sitting against something. That was her way of telling us that she wanted to be petted, but only if she felt secure.

I’ve been trying to get her on the sofa, because getting down on the floor is difficult for me. I’ve fed her treats every time and gently started to pet her back when she was eating a treat last week. She didn’t run away, but sat still as long as she was eating. After that it was hands off, or she’d hop away.

Today she jumped onto the sofa and sat there looking at me. I gently started to pet her back, and she sat still and started to purr. Then came her head, her ears, even her chin. She sat there purring for a whopping 10 minutes! How’s that for a first time?! 😯

Yes, it’s awesome! If only she could do it without spraying everywhere… 🙄

I could have told her that she’s important and loved at any time. But she feels like she’s top bunny now 😄

I just took my two to the vet for their first rhd vaccine. It was less an ordeal than it could be, but poor Miu just doesn’t do well. It doesn’t help she’s not as bonded with me as Dorian is.  He was not happy mind you, but he took his treat and the gave me a foot flick (and then came back for pets). Little Miu just spent the whole ride and visit visibly shaking and took an hour after coming home to eat anything. She’s eating hay now, but not looking forward to doing this again in 3 weeks.

Oh and it’s still cold and raining… summer may skip the pnw this tear. At least the buns prefer it!

I’m happy that you finally have the vaccine now, I’ve been very worried about all those buns in areas where it’s not available yet.

Poor Miu… It’s so sad to see a bunny who’s so scared, because there’s usually nothing that you can do to cheer them up. I hope that she’ll become less scared over time.

I’m just back from the vet. Owen’s stasis was probably caused by his moult. He has a lot of stringy poop. His teeth are fine, as is everything else. Picture of health…

May I add that Owen is the laziest, most spoilt fluffbutt that I’ve ever met?! The vet says that he probably just prefers his pellets soaked so they’re easier to eat. He can’t find any medical reason to explain why he doesn’t eat as quickly as his sister. He told us not to worry unless he’s losing weight or not pooping or eating at all.

Owen even gained a sizable 4% of weight on his CC schedule, and is now on the plump side of healthy. That’s what I got from 1,5 weeks of broken nights and 4 hour naps: a slightly fatter bunny… 🤬

Well, at least we didn’t get bad news or a huge bill… I did get compliments for Owen’s behaviour: the vet says that I’m raising my bunnies really well, seeing how calm and well-behaved they are.

Oh yes, I’m in a real love affair with my bed now! I slept 12 hours last night 😆

Your theory sounds right: they both have a dais in both their hutch, which is their favourite lounging spot, and they rule supreme here. I may pay the rent, but I’ve got no illusions about whose house this is ^_^

Molly’s been behaving a bit oddly lately: she’s suddenly very dominant, leaving poops everywhere and humming. It’s getting a bit less now that Owen is back to health again and now that we’ve started to swap hutches again.

She may act really bitchy at times, but then there are moments like these, where they’re laying cheek to cheek. No dominance standoff, just their way of touching each other even though it’s warm inside 🥰

Thanks Ellie, Miu is back to her sassy self. She’s not very into humans, so that doesn’t help things like vet visits. She is slowly getting better, but I don’t think she’ll ever be like Dorian who to be fair takes the whole snuggle bun concept to new levels. I wonder sometimes if it’s because he was a single bun for a while. Or is she’s just a sassy lionhead?

I think that snuggliness depends more on the bun’s personality. I’ve seen many single rabbits who were absolute cuddlebugs like my Breintje. Some single bunnies may also be aloof, like Bladesmith’s Dawn was.

Yes, it’s great to sleep again! I’ve been ignoring my body all the time, and it seems that my illness has some scores to settle 😵

I’m happy that the customers that were coming over this weekend were okay with rescheduling their appointment. They wanted to see the progress on their order of bags, but the project was on halt while Owen was ill. They understand, and the deadline is more than 2 months away still.

For now there’s not much to do apart from some extra cleaning. Molly is spraying urine too, although it’s getting less now that Owen is well again. I’m not letting her on any soft surfaces now because everything will be peed upon. She’ll just have to sit in the litter box if she wants to sit on something soft.

We’ve ordered a pheromone spray, and I’m really curious if it’ll help with her mood and anxiety.

The other day Thumper let me pet under his chin! He’s never let me do that!
