        Hello everyone,

My dwarf rabbit, Desmond, has recently been diagnosed with a thymoma. Vet did fine needle biopsy and found that the thymoma isn’t malignant, but will continue to grow larger until it kills him. He has been on a low dose of prednisone to reduce the size of the mass, but it is still growing. The vet says surgery or chemotherapy isn’t viable in rabbits and he will have to be euthanized once his symptoms get too bad. Desmond is only 5 years old and I don’t want to give up on him if there is something else that can be done.

Has anyone else here had a rabbit with this type of tumor and gone through with more aggressive treatment options? How did your rabbits tolerate it?

If there truly is nothing else that can be done for him, how can I make his remaining time as happy as possible? He is already free roam and getting extra petting and treats, is there anything else I can do to pamper him?

No personal experience with this. I just wanted to say that there was a recent study on this. They found that prednisolone was effective at extending life expectancy. Radiation can be an effective, less invasive treatment. But you have to weigh the risks of multiple times under anesthesia.
