        Hi everyone,

My rabbit is moulting/shedding a lot more than he ever has. I was wondering if anyone may know why.

I have taken him to the vet and he said to me that my rabbit seems completely healthy. Even the vet was a bit stumped as to what was happening. He did give him a mite preventer just in case that’s what it was but he couldn’t tell due to there being no bald spots. In fact it looks like there is new fur coming through.

I was thinking that maybe he was “blowing his coat” due to the amount he is losing. He seems resonably heslthy and happy otherwise.

I have also considered stress as I have moved bedrooms but I am still in the same house.

If anyone has any ideas or recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a normal (big) shed to me, sometimes rabbits will have a really extreme molt, especially in the spring time. As long as you don’t see patches of red or irritated skin, then I wouldn’t worry! I think I can see the new fur growing in in your picture.

A couple of my buns have had sheds like this, where they look like they lost a fight to a lawnmower!

It looks like a normal molt to me. Wick is my compass for such things: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rabbits/comments/qkhde3/care_heavy_molt_shedding/
