Hi! This is my first post so I apologize in advance for any mistakes! Anyway, I have an 8 month old Holland Lop single boy. He is overdue for neutering and I booked him in for neutering next week. However, I am having second thoughts now as he is still using his litter box diligently and is not showing signs of aggression or mounting me. He is essentially the perfect bun! Now I have a dilemma as I know neutering is great and prevents cancers in females but cancers are less likely in males. I would appreciate any advice on this! Could he still begin acting  hormonal, should I go through with the neuter or leave him be as he is not displaying hormonal behavior right now? Also as a side note, his testicles have dropped and I know he qualifies for the surgery! Any advice would be great!

If he isn’t showing any behavioral issues (lucky you!), the main reason to neuter would be in case you ever want to bond him with another rabbit in the future. If you think there’s a chance of future bonding, then neutering now would be a good idea.

Issues might pop up in the future as well. Sometimes if the bun is older when neutered, they are already locked into the annoying behaviors, but as long as you neuter not long after you notice them they usually do still improve.

So it’s really your call! You can always decide to neuter later if needed. I know it’s been hard in many areas to get appointments for neutering though, so it could be good to just do it now since you have the opportunity.
