Hello again
I’m doubting my decision to let my rabbit go, and put her to sleep. She is 11 now and in bad health.
She has had ongoing bouts of stasis for the last 2 years. She cannot digest her food and is on grass hay only now. Shes had arthritis for 4 years and its pretty advanced. Potentially she has bone cancer in her leg. An xray couldnt confirm if it was severe arthritis or cancer. But her bone has swollen to 4times the usuall thickness and she can no longer stand or walk. Shes blind almost deaf and has an abscess on her mouth. But despite all these issues she is comfortable, shes on max gabapentin and metacam. She seems happy and loves cuddles and grinds happily when we are with her. She even wanders around the room if we hold her up so she can walk. She has a great appetite too.
She is still fighting on and seems to want to carry on but its so hard to watch her with all these health problems and I dont want to leave it too long where shes in distress from her stomach shutting down or her leg fracturing due to her falling over while shes so old and her bones brittle due to the bone lysis.
Maybe it is kindest to let her go at home while shes not in too much distress.
