I’ve had my bun since about august (almost 6months!) and it seems he has gotten very comfortable with me. He loves getting pets and kisses but he doesn’t return them? I don’t really mind it I’m just happy he lets me cuddle him, but i was still curious why he doesn’t lick or groom me like i have seen other bunnies do. Also he does this thing where he boops me with his nose like all the time? Again this doesn’t bother me I just think it’s funny how he will boop me and just walk off. Curious if anyone knows what that means!

I’ve had quite a few rabbits over the years, and only 1 grooms me regularly! I think the ones that do get lots of attention on social media but I don’t think it’s something that the majority of rabbits do regularly. I another one bun that would only groom my leg when I wore a specific pair of fuzzy pj pants. LOL

The fact that he loves getting pets from you means he trusts you. 🙂 The boops can be a number of things, from “please move”, to “please pet”, to “please give me a treat”, depending on the context! My bun Myra usually gives me boops when she wants me to move out of her way (because she’s a princess of course), but Cooper will boop me when he wants me to keep petting him. Bun Jovi will always groom the floor but never me, LOL. 🙂

Funny enough he has one of my old stuffed animals that he grooms regularly and sleeps with all the time! Maybe it’s the texture or that it smells like me who knows!

It seems to vary a lot between rabbits. My previous rabbit Bandit used to lick me after I petted him as mutual grooming. He started that after a few months of owning him. My current pair I’ve had for over five years, and neither of them has ever licked me a single time. In their case they probably get their fill in that area from grooming each other, it would be interesting to know if more of the rabbits that lick their owners are single buns.

I was also wondering if the majority of buns who groom their owners are single buns. My very first bunny I had use to groom me ALL the time. She was my first pet and we had a very close bond. My other buns didn’t groom me, ever. One use to nudge my hand with his head so I would pet him. He would flop by me on the floor but never groomed me.

I have a bonded pair now. The boy bun use to flop by me on the couch until he was fully bonded with my female. Now they lounge together, he will soak up all the pets in the world but I have to be on the floor. All bunnies are so different.

Cooper is bonded and he grooms me more than he grooms Bonnie. I actually wish he would groom her more!
