        Hi,

Is this something I should be worried about? I’m not sure how she got this, if its an injury or mites?

        Thanks in advance!

I cant find that you have posted a picture.

Without knowing how it looks, I can only say that a scab on an ear is often a result of the bun scratching the ear. If its small and dry and the bun doesn’t seem bothered by it, you as a rule dont have to do anything, but a picture would be great!

Hi sorry, for some reason it didn’t attach the photograph. It’s small and she seems to be unbothered by it but I am a little worried about the missing hair around it.

Do you see any “dandruff” or flakiness around the scab or at the nape of his neck or base of tail?

If not, Id just keep an eye and have a look at it daily. As long as its dry and doesn’t increase in size or the skin becomes very red around it, this will probably heal nicely without intervention.

If you see dandruff/skin flakes and/or see your bun scratching his ears a huge lot, it could be mites (not ear mites, they live inside the ears) and you could book a vet appt next week. Revolution (selamection) spot on or ivermectin is very effective against mites.

(And since were on the subject of anti parasitics, here’s our standsrd OSA: Never use any conpound contsining fipronil on a rabbit. It is sold under a variety and brand names and it can be deadly toxic to buns).

It’s hard to see in the picture. Is it a scab that is close to the skin? Or does it protrude? It almost looks like a keratinized papilloma… but it’s hard to tell from the picture.
