        hello everyone!

I just wanna ask how many times should you groom your bunny? I have a mix lionhead + angora/teddy not sure and he always gets matted/tangled fur even if I brush him everyday especially on his tummy, back and tail area! 😭😭 like I can’t skip a day at all so I just want to ask how do I keep my buns fur not tangle? also sometimessss lol more like everytime,, whenever he is eating hay, some of the hay would even be stuck on his fur,,also because his “mane” fur around his neck just keeps getting fluffier, everytime I would give him veggies/fruits,his face would get wet from all the juiciness from the veggies and his face would sometimes be drenched 😭😭😂😂😂,,,tho it’s not a big problem,,I just want to know on how to keep my bunnies fur not tangle like even he himself can’t groom his fur because he’s just really poofy!

I only have experience with French angora/Jersey wooly fur type. It’s wool, but it has guard hairs. The guard hairs help prevent matting. I would only groom once per week as a general upkeep. Molting, of course, required daily grooming.

I don’t know if the concept is the same, but I assume it is. I found it much easier to start underneath and at the bottom, then work out and up. Trying to just comb/brush straight through the fur on top never worked very well.

oh! my bun are quite similar like a French angora,,,but I’ll take your tip on starting from bottom to top,,, Normally,I’d start from top to bottom and I would work but after that, they would turn their backs when I want to groom their back side😅

It’s much easier to work through the fur if you “lift” it up and get underneath first (i.e. starting at the bottom) and then work your way out. If your bunny has French angora fur, then it should have guard hairs. When there are guard hairs, the wool will loosen during the molt and “slide” down the guard hairs. This is what helps prevent matting. When you get underneath there while brushing, you should be able to work the loose stuff off.

If you have a long-haired bunny it is best to groom every day.
