  Hello Everyone,
  
  Today one of my two bunnies of six years passed away. Me and my wife got them at together from breeder and they were born the same time and have had each other for their entire life. They were both female rabbits.
  
  I am going through a lot and wanted to know if someone could provide advice for me on things I need to keep in mind when caring for her now. Any advice on how I could help her get by with the lose of her “sister”. They had an entire bedroom together and were always by each other side. Do I need to be concerned over grooming because I know they help ensure each other were clean. She was the thinner of the two bunnies so I think she could probably clean herself anywhere but what things should I look out for.

  I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁 Was your current bunny able to spend time with the body after she passed? Usually that helps the surviving rabbit understand the loss and they cope much better.
  
  In the immediate time after, monitor her eating and pooping. She may be a bit quieter than normal, but should still eat and poop normally. if not, she may need some supportive veterinary care.
  
  She will appreciate you spending extra time with her, even if you are just hanging out in the room with her reading or watching TV. Some rabbits like having a “stuffy” to cuddle with as well, just monitor to make sure she doesn’t chew on it.
  
  If you are up for it, you might consider re-bonding her with another bunny in the future. You don’t need to rush into it, but most rabbits that have been bonded before are happier if they are re-bonded. She would need to be spayed if she hasn’t been already.

  Thank You DanaNM. Unfortunately she (Asuna) passed away shortly after getting to the vet so Yuna our other bunny didnt get that. It does break me up to know she won’t know where she went but i am unabke to change what happened.
  
  I plan to do as you said and spend more time with her since she is alone now. I order a bunny pillow that cuddles them when they lay in it. I had one before but it got messed up and they seemed to like it. Hopefully this helps her get through it.

  It’s ok, things happen. There is a good chance that Yuna knew she was sick and already said her goodbyes. How is she doing now?

  I believe she is acting normal. She is laying a lot in the last spot Asuna was laying but I feel like I’m overthinking that. They have their own room and tend to pick certain spots to lay for awhile till they get bored so I feel like they were laying there prior to the whole thing But she is eating her hay and kale and pellets like normal.
  
  I appreciate the talk it helps. It’s been a tough day yesterday and today for me and my wife.

  You’re very welcome. I’ve unfortunately lost a few rabbits who were in bonded pairs over the years, and it is so heartbreaking to see them alone when you are used to seeing them with their friend. It will get better over time though. <3
