I have two Netherland dwarf bunnies and they’re my life. The younger one, Junior, is 1 year 2 months old while Sweetie is Turning 3 years old next week.
I haven’t had any health issues with Junior but sweetie has been going through GI stasis 3 times just this year. she is very sensitive. Her diet is good, she is a happy bunny who lives in a safe big environment.
now I’m wondering, are there any probiotics or digestive supplements I could give to her to keep problems away?

        Thanks so much 🙂

A lot of people have tried Bene-bac. It seems very safe to use, but whether it works is up for debate. It is used in weaning orphaned cottontails though.

Have you had Sweetie’s teeth checked very thoroughly? nethies can have dental problems that can so symptoms as GI issues, so it would be good to rule that out.

Hi thank you for responding. I will ask my vet about that and yes, they are fine according to two vets I have taken her to. I make sure she eats a lot of hay to help with that problem too

Alternating between different types of hay can encourage buns to est more hay. Even alternating between different brands or cuts can help make a bun more interested. Variation also means the bun gets a broader spectrum of nutrients than if they eat the same hay all the time.

I agree with Dana that dental health is worth looking into. Nethies have short little noses, meaning there’s not much room in the oral cavity. Bigger buns can have lousy teeth but still do well, because they have lots of mouth space. Dwarf breeds dont have that, which makes them more sensitive to dental problems.
