One bunny grunting during bonding

  I’ve been in the process of bonding my two rabbits- they’re both neutered/spayed and about 2 years old. They’re rescues and had been solo buns at previous (and crappy) owners homes. I’ve had them separated at my house for a number of months as I worked to clear up some health issues with them. My male rabbit has shown a lot of neutral/good signs during bonding. My female though seems to constantly hop over to him and then sniff him, and then she’ll put her ears back, grunt and run away. My male meanwhile just sits there usually. The worst repossessed he’s had to her grunt is he’ll mark his territory and then hop away from her. They’re both cool to be near one another if I’m petting them and will chatter away. Is it common for females to be a bit more difficult in the bonding process? At what point do I know she isn’t interested in being his friend?

  That doesn’t sound too bad! Grunting is pretty normal in bonding. Females are more territorial, so they will tend to show more of those types of behaviors in bonding.
