We all know bunnies always seem to always want to eat things they aren’t supposed to…

Cooper is OBSESSED with eating tape and stickers off of cardboard boxes. Whenever we get a package delivered he goes right to it! It must be considered a rare bunny delicacy!

What is your bun’s favorite “forbidden fruit”? Figured it would be fun to see if there are any shared ones!

My bunny cinnimon favorite is purses and Ollies is their brush. They also love those tape and stickers too.

Ruby’s is pretty general, but she really does love baseboards and door frames! She will still make attempts through the 3 layers of masking tape but gives up quickly. She also loves to tear up any fabric. Bottom of the futon, blankets, clothing….her nickname is Ruby Chew.

The wooden parts of their pen, tape off boxes, and paper. 🙄

                Carpet… but not really eating.

@Susanne, do you every call her “Ruby Chews-day’s”? (there’s a restaurant chain in CA called “Ruby Tuesday’s” LOL)

Oh I didn’t think of Ruby chewdays!! That’s awesome. We even have some here in Cincy! (Unless they all closed down).

My bun wants to massacre the couch.

But her major “forbidden” fruit is apples. She gets a small piece every day, but she wants all the apples in the whole world. If a human tries to eat an apple in her presence, there will be a wabbit in that human’s knee within seconds.

Here my mother tried to eat an apple and watch TV:

Oh my goodness, Cooper has been crazy about the apples lately too! We went apple picking, and when he hears me slicing one he starts going bonkers! I went to give him a tiny slice and he just crashed into my hand LOL

Oh yes, apples seem to be all the rage. Isn’t that weird?

We barely go over to the treat area and all the buns stand up like meerkats to get a treat. We can stealthily go over, but once they hear the slightest twist on one of the containers they go crazy. We keep the Timothy biscuits, dried fruits and veggies in these jars.

Apples are definitely a favorite of all of our buns, but they wouldn’t hesitate to bite a finger off if they see you eating a carrot or cucumber and not sharing. They are OBSESSED.  Our Flemish babies are the typical teens and will go crazy over any treat or food lately. If you don’t give them their treat fast enough, our Flemish buns will nibble on you or dig at you until you give them the treat. They are very demanding.

Dean’s forbidden fruit is definitely cardboard boxes and anything paper or any kind of blanket. Lately his favorite thing is to try to chew on the cage doors when he wants us to let him out to roam or go in the play area.

Sam only really goes ham over his toys or chews, or carrots and cucumbers. He’s a very old soul kind of bun. Super mellow and just likes to veg about.

Ruby Tuesday loves to chew on blankets or your clothing.

Amara will chew carpet. She doesn’t eat it, but pulls it out or into pieces depending on the carpet.

Dorian’s favorite fruit is pineapple, usually I get dried rings as they are easier to keep around. Technically it’s the only fruit he is allowed by the vet (well papaya too, but he doesn’t like those), in reality he gets a very small piece of most fruits. He’s generally wary of most food, other than pineapple though… I mean he wants you to share, but then he just stares at it and sniffs it for 5 minutes, before very hesitantly taking a nibble.

As for forbidden fruits, houseplants and the leaves from the birch tree that fall on the deck. I spend ages sweeping and he still always finds one and then it’s a game to get him to spit it back out. I am not sure if he should actually have them so if any one knows let me know.

My rabbit Gipsy goes nuts if he hears the crunching/ crackling of brown paper. He loves digging and ripping it up! Even when he’s not suppose to😂  I guess that’s his “forbidden fruit”

@prince dorian the bun: Birch leaves are fine for rabbits. The twigs and the wood are also fine, although some say you shouldn’t give birch twigs during winter because birch produces some sort of anti-freeze to protect itself when it’s cold. I don’t know if this is true though, but just to be safe it could be best to only give birch twigs during the non-cold seasons.

Thanks Bam! I did end up doing some research and saw humans could eat them and make a tea out of the leaves, so was wondering about my original info that they were bad for buns. This will make life much easier when summer hits and it’s chasing bun chasing leaves 😀 . Dorian isn’t a big stick chewer, so he probably won’t even be interested… he prefers cardboard and books. Highly literate bun.

One of my girls Hero *loves* to eat anything rubber – those big rubber doorstop / protector things you find attached to the wall are her favourite. However, she will also go for rubber protectors at the bottom of drying racks as a second option!

Our Bella seems to love banana, she was so excited she tried to eat through the skin once! She’s also taken a cheeky sip of my tea when I wasn’t looking, luckily there was no dairy in it! – it has made me wonder about making some bunny safe teas.

Glenn loves an apple and cardboard, he’ll steal cardboard and runs away into the distance. On the flip side he despises banana and will thump and run if you put one near him lol.

You can definitely make mint and chamomile tea for your buns! I think any bunny-safe herb would make a nice tea for them. 🙂

Funny, Loki doesn’t have any bad habits.  It’s my CAT who is freakin’ mental for tape and adhesive!  When I get my box of paper litter from Small Pet Select, and open it, she makes a beeline for the tape.  Lunatic.  I heard a crash late one night, and rushed downstairs thinking I had a home invader, only to find Dotty running around in a panic with the packing tape wrapped around her, unable to get it off.  Dingbat.

As for snackage, Loki LOVES his dried apples, his Craisens, and most of all, he will flat out mug you in an alley for a ‘nanner.  Other than that, he doesn’t chew things, doesn’t make messes, or other naughty bunny stuff.  He’s a good boi.  Never even chewed a wire, once he was out of babyhood.

Oh, he IS a madman for snow.  If he sees the snow coming down, he wants to be out in it. He’ll stand by the sliding glass doors, look at me beseechingly, and if I tell him no (Mainly at night, because we have big freaking owls), he’ll stand there and stomp his feet at me.  Once it’s daylight, he’ll go outside and stay there unless I make him come inside or he gets too cold.  Pretty sure he’s half Snowshoe hare.
