  We are having very hard time understanding our bunnies bonding. We have a 3 year old female bunny Nasu whom we’ve had since she was a baby. About two months ago we adopted a flemish giant mix Bertus who’s still a baby, he’s almost 7 months. It was really a love at first and they slept together and Bertus kept licking Nasu’s ears, so we assumed they were bonded and that everything was good. Suddenly just one day last week they started doing the bunny tornado. Goign after each other with fur flying and giving each other bald spots. We have no idea what has changed, or what to do. They fight a lot, but then they also lay next to each other and Bertus grooms Nasu. It’s really confusing! What should we do? Do we keep them separated or in the same cage, should the cage be small or big or what? Help! 🙁

  7 months is a bit old for a “baby bond”, but I think flemies tend to hit puberty later, so it’s possible the initial love-at-first site was due to Bertus not hitting puberty yet (if he hasn’t been neutered). Adults and babies tend to get along, but when puberty happens all of that can go out the window.
  
  If that’s not the case, then it really is perplexing! Although I have heard of some similar cases (love at first sight and then fighting a few weeks later), likely due to the bonding process just being a bit rushed. Can you fill out the bonding template that’s pinned in the section (copy the template and then paste in your reply below)? That would help give us a bit more info and know what might have happened.
