  <p style=”text-align: center;”>Hi, my friend made some furniture and gave me the wood shavings. They are very fine, and have been sitting at least 6 months because he forgot to give them to me before. They only have a very faint smell left. Are these safe to give to my rabbits in a dig box?</p>

  Since they still have a faint smell, I would recommend against using them in your rabbit’s environment: https://rabbit.org/care/shavings.html
  
  While it’s nice that your friend saved these for you, I think it’s best to be safe and avoid using them for your rabbit. That being said, the cardboard box that they are in can make a mighty fine hidey hole or hay feeder!

  Thank you! I tossed them. The box was pretty small, and we already have a bunch of hidey boxes and hay rack 😆 I just want to give them more variety where I can but agree the shavings aren’t worth the risk. They love the dig box with tissue paper, I think I’m going to replace it, and maybe cut a hole like in the middle of the box, so they have to jump up and out (and also to keep the paper inside).
