Hey bunny owners! Willows neuter is about to come up and I am super nervous! His examination is 8 days away and then of course the neuter. I really hope everything goes well as they have spayed and neutered rabbits before and have experience with small animals. Anyways I just wanted to know that Willow is 9 months old and I just wanted to make sure that there shouldn’t be any problems with that right?? Because I’ve heard that male rabbits should be neutered around 5 months old. Nonetheless, what should I pack post-op and anything else important to take note of?

        Thanks so much:)

There should be no problem doing it at 9 months. You can pack some pellets and hay for him to have at the vet. They typically provide water… at least my vet does. Make sure he gets pain meds afterward. Sometimes vets don’t think they need it. Boys tend to bounce back pretty fast, but it’s always a good idea to have pain meds in case he needs them.

            Hey!

I was super nervous about my boy’s neuter as well, I took it worse than he did! Just wanted to reassure that all will be well and this procedure is quite routine nowadays, no need to worry at all.

I would, like LBJ said, pack pellets and hay but if you wanna go the extra step you could also pack veg, too. I brought mine some in a little lunchbox and he was certainly excited for a bit of second breakfast on the way home!

Good luck and if you run into any issues along the way the people on this forum have been nothing but amazing to me.
