        Hi!

I am a new rabbit owner as of three months ago and I have a question about activating my bunny.

Since my guy got neutered he’s not been nearly as playful as before. He lies down and sleeps or rests all the time except at midnight which is when he wants to play…And that’s when it’s sleepy time so that’s not working very well for him. He’s stopped trying to keep me up or wake me super early since he got neutered so he goes to lie down as soon as I put him in his play pen for the night because when I turn out the lights he knows it’s time to sleep, but it’s not great knowing he’d rather be active at that time. So basically I need some advice on how to activate him in the afternoon or earlier in the evening instead. If I go to wake him up he’s soon gone back to sleeping again since he’s tired so how do I do it? I know he’s not miserable or anything because he flops and binkies and seems content with his life but really it can’t be great to just let him sleep all the time? I know a lot of people train their buns with agility, which i’ve also been interested in, and I guess you don’t just train them at midnight if you also have buns who are most active then..? So how do you get them active earlier?

        Thanks.

Honestly I’m not sure if this is possible because rabbits have their own schedule! But my one suggestion that you might try is dimming the lights at the time you want him to play. Rabbits enjoy being in low light, it makes them feel safe, so maybe he’s just starting play time in the middle of the night because it’s finally dark enough for him to feel more comfortable. I can’t guarantee that would work but try it!

Young bunnies can be kind of all over the place, but over time they usually start to adjust to a more regular schedule. Bunnies do tend to be most active at night and morning, so giving him at least some exercise time morning and evening will prob be the best balance for both of you.
