We just brought our bunny to the vet for a check up. He was smelling a little odd and I asked the vet to check his scent glands. They were clogged so she cleaned them. I’m a paranoid bun mom. How often are we going to need to take him in to get them checked??? He doesn’t let us pick him up and is extremely difficult to handle. We have to bring him to the vet for nail clipping even! Thoughts??

Some buns need them cleaned every month or two, but for most buns it’s not as frequent, maybe every several months or not at all. And sometimes after a cleaning the bun does better with keeping them clean themselves.

So I wouldn’t worry about it since you already go to the vet for nail trims. You could have your vet check and do them for you if needed then.
