my rabbit Noel who’s about 10 has been having a few problems here and there and we’ve been taking him to the vet for treatment. Some unresolved problems though are fits of sneezing he goes into a lot which we assumed was because of how dusty the areas he hangs around are sometimes as well as his tears eyes that had led to some bald spots on his cheeks. Now though we noticed this area on his cheek and we are unsure if it swollen and swelling up or not. Should we take him to the vet again? Also what could this be?

I have never experienced this, but I would definitely suggest taking him to the vet if you are unsure. I’m sorry for my lack of knowledge regarding this topic – I’m sure other members on here could offer some helpful advice

It’s hard to tell if it is swollen since I don’t have a baseline, though if you feel it is, I would get it assessed by a vet. If there is some sort of growth, abscess, or something building up there, the earlier it is identified, the better.

Tearing which leads to fur loss is pretty major. Have x-rays ever been done on his head? Sometimes, dental root growth can irritate both the sinuses and the eyes (from the inside).

Hmm… like @Cinnamon Bun, I have never had experience with this and would definitely recommend taking her to a vet. Poor girl, hope she is back to normal soon! 🙂

I agree with Wick. Something significant is going on if you have tearing to the point of fur loss. Your bunny could have a tooth root issue or a blocked tear duct. You should probably have x-rays done to rule out possible causes.

Are you thinking there is a growth in his cheek? Like an abscess? Or does his entire cheek look “swollen”? The reason I ask is because facial paralysis can also make a cheek appear to be swollen.

I’m more chiming in to help the more knowledgeable commenters. I know when I first looked at this I was looking at the whole bald spot as swelling — i just realized if you zoom in there’s a circular bulge on the right side of the patch, just below the middle -this is my attempt to recreate ( .|  it’s like something is protruding underneath, so maybe dental issue?

I hope this little guy feels better!

I saw that, but I wasn’t sure if it was a wrinkle in the skin or a bump under the skin (like an abscess). There also appear to be some drooping of the eye, so then I thought maybe facial paralysis could be at play. I’m hoping the OP clarifies what we’re supposed to be looking at.
