Walter, intact, spayed female at shelter.

Walter is super mellow, NOTHING fazes him… I mean nothing.

Of course, personality of female unknown.

        Worth trying?

I don’t know of any successful bonds with an unneutered male. Even if the female is spayed, unneutered males tend to mount relentlessly, and eventually even the most mellow female gets tired of it.

I think most bonds can work IF both buns are castrated. Most do not work if one bun isn’t castrated. In the past it was more common for bonds between an unspayed female and a neutered male (back when vets that would spay were exceedingly rare), but I haven’t heard of any cases of the other way around.

Any reason for not neutering Walter?

            Well, talked Hubby into it!

We had only planned on the one bun, so weren’t planning on the neuter…will now call around.

Age is unknown, she was a stray.  But, full grown, it seems.

She is very skittish, probably been through a lot.

I’ll get some pics up later.  She is a PEW lionhead w/”smoked”  ears.

I am a sucker for white fur and have always loved the pink eyes…my first G.Pig and rabbit, when I was six, were both PEW.

              Haha!  Yay!

I love Rew/pew’s too! Bun Jovi is one, and Myra is a Californian. It’s great to see people adopting them, they are often overlooked in shelters.

I think it would be wonderful  to give a scared stray a home and a loving hus-bun. As I said, I think most bonds are possible, and if you go into it with the mindset that it will work out even if it takes a long time, it takes the pressure off and makes it less stressful.

It also seems like lion heads know how gorgeous they are and only like other lion heads, so I think you’d be off to a good start 😉

I have a REW too, and it makes me especially happy to have adopted one that other people overlook so I’m super happy you picked one too!! I didn’t realize they weren’t popular until they asked me if I had a problem with a red eyed bun. They had to repeat the question since I was confused 🙁

Oh just saw the picture, she is cute!! She kinda looks like the sibling of my rabbit ( both sisters went on a speed date with Elmer).

                      She is so cute!!! Congrats!

                      @Susanne
I can’t believe they would ask “do you have a problem with…”! Seems like a great way to perpetuate the problem!

Yeah, I think since she was bringing in foster rabbits for the speed dating she didn’t want me to get there and not be interested in those. Unfortunately there must be enough people that don’t want them she felt like she needed to ask. Sad.  Not that I would not want them anyway, but at that point my only concern was that Elmer liked her!
