Hello everyone. I’m new to the forum, so please bear with me if I make any mistakes!
I recently adopted a bunny that is now a month old whose name is Baby. When I adopted her she was 1 month at the time (which I know is horrible, but I wanted to be able to ensure that she was getting the appropriate care without her mother). The previous owner informed me that she was already on a diet of hay and pellets. A few weeks following her adoption, she began having runny stool (possibly due to change in environment and lack of antibodies from her mother’s milk). I was able to remedy that with probiotics added to her food and water, and eventually she began have solid, healthy poops. The reason I mention this is because today I began to notice that she had quite a bit of dandruff. I searched her fur and noticed one of the “flakes” moving. I immediately was horrified and thought it may be mites, which I figured could have been because of her digestion issues and her young age combined. Baby has been acting normal (and actually very active) and has had no other symptoms such as excessive scratching or scabs. I am making an appointment with the vet, but since it’s been difficult to get an appointment nowadays I was wondering if I could begin some sort of treatment now before I see the vet? I am immensely worried since I already have an older rabbit that shares the same play area as the younger bun. She also has been in direct contact with her.
Please let me know! I just want to be a good bun mom to my sweet bunnies. Thank you!
Here’s the young bun for attention. The older bun, Bunty, is my profile picture!
