Hi All,
My 4.5 year old rabbit Phoebe stopped eating her pellets earlier this week. She was still eating some hay, but not her usual amount. She acted similarly over the summer when she had some minor molar spurs, so I suspected that was what was wrong. She spent most of Tuesday at the vets office getting some fluids and checked out, but unfortunately they did not have time for a dental exam/trim, so I had to bring her back on Wednesday for that. Again, they found a few very minor spurs and filed those down, but there was no signs of the spurs causing any ulcers or cuts inside her mouth.
She came home Wednesday night and was obviously very out of it due to the anesthesia. By Thursday she seemed much more aware and like herself. She did seem to eat a bit more hay than before the procedure, but still nowhere near her usual amounts or touched her pellets at all. Today (2 days post teeth filing) she’s still not eating too much. She is very tired and sleeping a lot, which I’m sure is due to the stress of spending 2 days at the vet, but should I be concerned she’s still not improving with her eating? Obviously she’s still getting syringe feedings to supplement and is still on Metacam and Cisapride.
How long does it typically take your rabbits to recover after that procedure?
