Hello, I’m currently harness training my bunnies and I have some questions about what the best way to take them for walks would be.

I know you’re not supposed to separate bonded rabbits. I was thinking about how bad things could get if I had two rabbits out at once and they got spooked, though.

How long can bonded rabbits go without seeing each other? I have 2 potential strategies to prevent absolute chaos in the event that we’re out walking and something happens.

The first would be to leave one rabbit in the house and limit walking time to under one hour.

The second was to keep one in my bunny bag (actually a cat backpack) and switch them out partway.

I figured both of these might be better than just setting up a pen for one rabbit while I walk the other because then I know for a fact that one will be jealous when they see the other out in the garden. What do you think?

I’m also not going to go into detail about it but basically I can’t just set up a pen in the yard for them to play in for various reasons. Not yet anyway. I want to train them should it ever be useful and I know they would enjoy being able to explore more of the yard (they love being outside but are very limited in where they can go).
