Hello! Last night Alto got too close to the bag of pellets and ripped the bag and ate a small piece of plastic. I have been worried sick since. He has been eating, drinking and pooping lots! I do worry it could have caused a blockage but I wonder if it was too small to do so. I am a first time bunny owner. I called the emergency vet last night and she said to bulk feed him which I did. I do not see the plastic in his poo though, would is show up or would it break down?

He will most likely be OK, since rabbits do chew up the weird things they eat and that’s not a huge amount… How is he doing today?

Best to just keep pushing hay and water on him as the vet said. You prob won’t see anything in his poop since they chew things up well. As long as he’s eating and pooping then I would just keep monitoring.

Hi thanks so much for your response, I totally understand taking advice from the vet, I just wanted another bunny owners opinion :). Alto is doing well, he seems like his normal self, he’s eating, his poop is normal. Hopefully I dodged a bullet, (knock on wood).

Sounds good and like things are moving right through 🙂

Bunnies do love eating things they aren’t supposed to!

You may not see the plastic in his poop. It depends on how well it was chewed and what kind of plastic it was. Lots of bunnies have eaten weird things and were perfectly fine afterwards. All you can really do it encourage food/water and monitor.
