Last night, I noticed my rabbit was not herself. I picked her up and noticed her stomach felt very tight and round. I gave her three doses of simethicone but didn’t see any improvement.  This morning, the vet diagnosed illeus and sent her home with metoclopramide and SMZ TMP suspension after treating with SQ fluids.

She has been eating/drinking normally, including foraging for her pellets. She has also pooped and peed (the poo was large and oval).

Her tummy is still doughy, but more lumpy than it was before, and she has a loose flap of skin under her left front leg that wasn’t there before. Maybe it’s getting better and leaving some flab behind? I can’t tell.

Should I let her eat and drink as much as she wants?

If she’s eating and pooping now, then I would encourage her to eat.

It’s great she is wanting to eat now, you can let her eat and drink as much as she wants, especially encourage hay. Even offering extra wet greens can help with hydration.

              Thank you for your answers!

I thought that she should probably keep eating based on everything I knew about stasis, but I didn’t have the experience to just go with my best guess.
