I rescued a bun. I work from home and he is with me basically all day because he free roams in our house.

Over the holiday we went to a cabin house about three hours away and he was in the car for about 3.5 hours traveling. He did fine. We stopped once and he sprawled out and ate some hay. I am traveling to be with my mom for her 60th birthday, so she isn’t alone.

He did really well and he liked exploring the new place. He adjusted fine and he was eating and pooping normally within 24hrs.

The alternative is leaving him home with my husband he works long days so he will be alone most of the time.

Has anyone driven 8hrs with a bun? Any tips? Is it a bad idea?

How long will you be away on your trip?

As long as your husband will take care of his feeding and litter box, etc, I think that would be a lot less stressful on the bun.
