        Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows why my Appa is over grooming his eye or if he’s sick? He’s eating and drinking and behaving normally but it appears his right eye corner is losing some hair and is a bit pink and raw from grooming. Is there anything I can do to help or does he need a vet ASAP? I’ve been cleaning the corner with a Q-tip since noticing the problem (it’s been 2 days). It doesn’t seem like there’s been discharge (he gets some eye mucous in both eyes but doesn’t seem abnormal)

Since it has been going on for two days, there may be something irritating the eye, causing the tear duct to react. Rather than your rabbit over grooming the area, more likely he is “crying” a lot, leading to fur loss and general moist fur in the area. Sometimes these things resolve on their own if it’s something like a piece of hay or eye lash in the eye, but again, if it has been two days, it might be best to get a vet to look at the eye to ensure there’s no damage.

It currently doesn’t look that bad, so I’d be hopeful for a good prognosis and easy resolution!

My cookie had quite same issue around 6 months back and it turned out to be an abscess on his cheek which was affecting his eye…

Unfortunately its again happening from yesterday…I suggest you to take your baby to vet and i am going to do the same tomorrow
