Hi everyone, I have read everywhere that you can give rabbits tea, but I wanted to make sure. I now that you shouldn’t give rabbits caffeinated tea like black tea or green tea. Or you shouldn’t give them tea with sugar. I have my own oregano, rosemary, and lavender plants and I was wondering if it would be okay if I made tea out of them to give to Flopsie. I know he loves rosemary and oregano leaves on their own and i wanted to try giving him tea once in a while. Obviously I wouldn’t give him it everyday or a lot at once, and I wouldn’t put any sweetener in it. Would this be a good idea?

You can give a bun cooled herbal tea. You can even make hay tea for buns. I think most buns would prefer eating the herbs as they are though. But cooled mint or chamomile herbal tea can be very helpful if a bun gets tummy trouble.

I ended up putting about 5 small leaves of oregano and 2 small stalks of rosemary and steeped it in warm water and fed it to him in a syringe and he loves it!

I think that would be nice. 🙂 As long as you don’t steep more than you would normally feed in a serving you should be fine. Lots of folks make chamomile or mint tea for their buns, especially when the bun is poorly. You can even make tea out of hay, which is really nutritious for bunnies. 🙂

                        Lol!

It’s very good to train buns by letting them drink sth they like from a syringe -in case they ever get poorly, they are a lot more likely to accept meds or critical care by syringe if they’ve had that training.

Yes! this was the first time feeding him something in a syringe and I’m surprised he did so well (it was probably because he could smell his favorite herbs 😆 )
