Hi everyone, I have been wanting to build a castle for Bentley for a while now. So I finally came up with a blue print and my dad and I went to home depot and lowes to look at wood. He suggested plywood as one 4×8 would be enough for the whole project. After looking around, I thought I would get the maple plywood. But after coming home and doing more research, some say plywood is fine and some say its toxic, due to the glue. Bentley is not much of a chewer but I still want to be on the safe side.

Has anyone build things for your bunnies using plywood and know what type of glue this brand may use? Is Maple okay to use? Thank you!

Here is the wood I was originially going to buy:

I decided to go with birch plywood instead. The website says that it contains 100% natural wood bonded with a food-grade soy based adhesive that is formaldehyde free and does not emit toxic air contaminents. I think this sounds safe to use.

Birch is a safe choice! I think plywood for a non chewer might have been all right, but you never know because of the glue. Perhaps theres a scent that may be irritating? The more natural tends to be best.

I found an old thread that had some conversation of safe woods: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/safe-poisonous-woods-for-your-bun-bun/
