A medium sized rabbit should produce 200-300 round (fecal) poops every day. If a rabbit doesn’t poop, there is a problem somewhere. Either the bun isn’t eating and drinking enough, or the consumed food isn’t able to pass through the GI canal. Since you are saying he isn’t eating a lot, I take it he is not eating as much as he normally does. If this goes on, he will become acutely ill. I would contact a vet sooner rather than later, because the outcome of treatment for GI trouble in rabbits is highly dependent on how much strenght and energy the poorly bun has.

What causes a bun to eat less than normal cant be determined without a proper vet exam. Almost all bunny illnesses and ailments manifest first of all as a GI problem. Short term, the most important things are to keep the bun warm (to avoid chock) and to try and get the bun to eat again. There must always be food in a bun’s GI tract for it to function properly. As I’m sure you know, rabbits are not like dogs, who, in most cases, will eventually start to eat when they get hungry enough.

How long has it been since your bun stopped pooping? After 12-24 hours, absence of poop constitutes a veterinary emergency.

I’m glad he started pooping again! Did the vet look into his mouth? Dental problems are common in buns, but you cant see their inner teeth (the molars) without an otoscope. Is he eating normally now?
