Hello!  I am conflicted between getting an X-Pen or Cage. The space I have available is not much so I feel like the cage would be a better fit because of its size (which is pretty spacious) and my rabbit is a dwarf. But I’ve seen so many videos saying cages aren’t the best and X-Pens are the way to go, and I like them, I just feel like the set up wouldn’t be as good as a cage.

(This spot is temporary, just until I can somewhat litter train him but its what I have to work with now.)

Typical rabbit/small animal cages are very small, but if you are looking for a temporary “cage” setup, a dog crate would be a better option because the size is better, however, an xpen would be the best for the bunny long term.

I would also opt for an Xpen, but a cage is a nice addition to an Xpen, so the rabbit has a “safe haven” where he/she feels more protected. Most cages on the market are too small on their own for an enclosed space to keep a rabbit for a long period of time, so an Xpen is typically more recommended.

I agree with the others. You might also look into using NIC cubes to build a pen or condo. They are my person favorite. 🙂 There are a lot of really elaborate ones you can build if you search online, but here is an example of a really simple one: http://www.bunssb.org/bunnies/perfect-cheap-bunny-cage/

I agree, an x-pen would be preferable. A dog crate or NIC condo would make a good “home base” and can be used for temporary confinement if necessary.
