My bun has been itching it’s ears. I would even itch them for him sometimes because I could see that he couldn’t reach where he wanted to.

But it’s been getting more and more noticeable. He’s even shaking his head now before he itches. I’m worried he will get head tilt. I checked his ears for mites, some people say only a microscope will show them but so far, no rash/scabs/mites that I can see.

I only have him and never come in contact with any other bunnies + *I’ve already scheduled a vet appointment.

I would just like some advice if anyone has been in this situation before.

My bunny Pinky shook his head and itched his ears a lot when I adopted him. The vet used a microscope and saw ear mites. He was treated with revolution and has gotten better.

Maybe it’s early ear mites? Maybe too deep to be able to see with just your eyes. I’ve seen some people say that they can get loose fur stuck in their ear from shedding that might make them itchy.

I’m pretty certain that Pinky came with the ear mites when I adopted him. They brought him outside and there were other bunnies there. Did you get your bunny recently?

Thank you so much for sharing!

I’ve had him for about 7 months the & itching started a little over 2 weeks ago :/ he’s an indoor bun too so I really don’t know where he could’ve gotten mites from.

A lot (maybe most) bunnies have a low level of mites that never cause problems. Then sometimes they have a flair up, possibly due to stress or other impacts on the immune system.

It could also be an ear infection. Either way the vet should be able to straighten things out easily. 🙂

Thank you so much! I can’t imagine why he’d be stressed :/ he’s extremely spoiled lol but yes I’m anxious to see what the vet says.

These things happen, sometimes ya just never know! Lops can be more prone to ear issues as well.
