Hello everyone! I am purchasing bunnies as of tommorow, but the seller is not sure of the genders/sex. I am afraid of any unexpected litters, so should I separate them ASAP or.. The seller said it was too soon to tell their genders since they are 5 weeks old. I am so scared please help! Here are some images…

It’s good you are being careful! Baby rabbits should really stay with their mom till 8 weeks… is there a reason you are getting them so young?

The earliest females can get pregnant is 12 weeks. So you could get them at 8 weeks, then separate at 12 if there was any uncertainty about their sexes.

Yes, I forgot to mention the age concern. I didnt understand why the lady was giving these bunnies away at such low age, besides from the fact she wantes to get rid of them. Im guessing she had an unexpected pregnancy, and the bunnies are too much for her. But correct if I am wrong, they look a bit older then just 5 weeks old.

Also, she was selling the bunnies $20 each, which was far lest then the other sellers I have seen. Since I am getting them at this age, is there anything I should know, regarding health?

Not many folks here know very much about baby bunnies (since breeding discussion isn’t allowed here), but the weaning process happens at around 4-5 weeks. After that time they are still developing their gut flora and being with their siblings is good for their behavioral development.

You might check out some resources on https://www.rabbitsonline.net/ , as there are more folks with baby experience there.
